Oleg Gurov’s central theme is cyborgization and the boundaries of the human: where they lie as body and mind become ever more closely bound up with technology. This is the subject of his monograph The Boundaries of the Human (2020) and of his articles on the philosophy and methodology of the concept of the cyborg, on cyborg responsibility, and on cyborgization as a mechanism of biopolitical control.
His research also covers the digital transformation of social life, the philosophy of technology, and current issues in strategic management and change management.
A separate line of work is devoted to popular culture, in particular the work of David Cronenberg, H. R. Giger and Stanisław Lem.
He publishes in leading Russian and international outlets, including Springer and journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, and serves as academic editor of several research journals.
